Aeration and Overseed

Jul 26, 2016 | Blog

What is lawn aeration?

Aerating is a vital part to your lawn’s growth and fullness.  Aeration is the process of poking holes or “spiking” your turf area, creating plugs of grass, thatch and soil.  After the plug removal, a channel is left exposing your root system to the elements needed for strong growth.  A late season application allows your lawn to get the water and oxygen it needs to break up thatch. Help your lawn get a bright, vibrant look with our aeration and overseed services.

What is over-seeding?

Over-seeding is another important step of making your lawn full. Applying seed after an aeration will give the seed the best opportunity to thrive and get the nutrients needed to produce a uniform lawn.  Fall is the ideal time of year to apply an over-seed application.  Warmer days will help the seed germinate and the cooler nights stimulate growth in established seed.

Why aerate and over-seed?

A full, lush lawn is your best defense against weed growth.  Leaving your grass longer in the later seasons helps protect your lawn when it may be most vulnerable to the brutal elements that may occur.  Putting your lawn on a detailed fertilizer program will keep your existing lawn healthy which can provide a good environment for new growth.
