4 incredibly simple ways to make your lawn the talk of the neighborhood.

Does this sound like you?

You walk out to your lawn, it’s patchy.

And where it’s not patchy, it’s weedy.

And where it’s not weedy, the grass is looking a little thin.

Meanwhile, your neighbors lawn is looking like it could be a professional golf course.

Well, we’re going to share 4 incredibly simple ways for you to make your lawn the talk of the neighborhood.

Exercise Patience

The first rule of having an incredible lawn is understanding that it takes time for it to become incredible. Too often we see homeowners try something, and when it doesn’t work immediately, they try something else. In many cases, this can actually harm your lawn instead of nourish it. So, start by understanding this process simply takes time.

Understand the Soil

Every lawn has soil, but not every soil is the same. Specifically, soils can have different levels of pH, and that pH can have a positive or negative effect on the health of your grass. It is also important because pH affects soil bacterial, nutrient leaching, nutrient availability, toxic elements, and soil structure. Generally speaking, pH is measured on a scale of 0-14, with 5.5-6.5 providing the most nutrients to your lawn. Our recommendation is to either order a soil test online, or give us a call to create a specific solution for your lawn.

Create a Routine Maintenance Schedule

One of the easiest ways to ensure that your lawn is the talk of the neighborhood is to, like clockwork, be consistent with your routine maintenance. You’ve probably noticed that one neighbor who is constantly out watering, mowing, or tinkering with his/her lawn. Well, they’re simply providing the routine maintenance your lawn needs. A couple of simple tricks for routine maintenance include:

  • Mow your lawn once a week.
  • Water often. A good rule of thumb is that if you can’t push a 6 inch screwdriver into your lawn, it needs water; most yards need between 1 and 1.5 inches of water per week.

Fertilize During Growth Season

Fertilizing is how you feed your lawn, and during the warm Summer months (growing season), keeping your lawn fed is crucial. Along with watering, we recommend that you fertilize. To learn more specifics about what fertilization means, check out this blog we wrote a while back.

Remember, your lawn is a living organism, which means that it will, without a doubt, experience changes along the way. However, by following the instructions above, you can get rid of the patchy, weedy, or even thin yard you have.

And, over time, you too can become the neighborhood lawn master.
