6 ways to improve your home’s landscape on quarantine.

Apr 13, 2020 | Blog

Last month we looked at a general timeline for Spring lawn maintenance.

And while that timeline has likely changed for your family, the importance of maintaining your home’s lawn hasn’t. Thus, we wanted to remind you to be extra intentional about using your time at home this Spring.

So, here are 6 things you can do on your own to enhance your landscape while on quarantine.

Check your equipment.

One often forgotten task is to check your equipment prior to needing to use it. Specifically, check your lawn mower and change the oil, spark plug, and air filter prior to using for the first time.

Clean your lawn up.

It’s really simple. Just walk your lawn and pick up sticks, rocks and other debris that has collected from the Winter months. If you want, this can become a game for your kids (to see who can pick up the largest, or most unique item).

Apply a little mulch.

Applying mulch to any planting beds provides not only a nice look, but it also blocks out sun rays to prevent weeds from growing. A good rule of thumb is to place 2-3 inches of mulch on top of the soil.

Power wash where applicable.

Power washing is a fun task that can add immediate curb appeal to your home. WHile there are many surfaces you can clean immediately, there are also many that you should be extra cautious with. Here are 7 things you should know before power washing anything

Get rid of those leaves.

Do you have a pile of leaves that you didn’t fully discard last Fall? Depending on your home, you may decide to burn these leaves, otherwise check with your city. In many cases, cities will have FREE disposal of leaves; they’re also essential businesses that remain open during quarantine.

Don’t forget the gutters.

While you may have cleansed your gutters out in the Fall, we recommend that you check out the gutters in the Spring. With it being more of a rainy season, it’s important to ensure your gutters are working properly and funneling water away from your home.

While we’re all doing our best in this season, our team wishes you health, happiness and the creation of new memories with your family.
