It’s a nice Summer evening. All you want to do it sit on your patio, enjoying your favorite drink and some peace and quiet. But it’s interrupted by the worlds most annoying buzzing sound (getting closer and closer).

As Minnesotan’s this isn’t something new. You’ve likely swatted thousands of mosquitoes over the years.

In this blog we’d like to highlight 5 simple tricks you can do yourself to get rid of those pesky mosquitoes. Enjoy the blog, and take back your yard!

Try Peppermint Oil

Simply combine some peppermint oil with water and spray it on your skin. Not only will you smell fresh, you’ll be repelling those pesky creatures.

Mix Some Garlic Water

Mix garlic and water in a spray bottle, and spray it on your outside lights / lamps. When the lights get warm, a small garlicy smell will spread across the yard, repelling mosquitoes and other insects.

Drain your water

Mosquitoes lay eggs in water. If you can reduce the amount of standing water in your yard (i.e. Pools, dog bowls, etc.), you can reduce the amount of hatching mosquitoes near your property.

Cut your grass shorter (we can help with this here!)

Longer grass tends to become more of a habitat for mosquitoes. Thus, regular mowing of your lawn to a lower height, can help eliminate the reality of mosquitoes living next to your home.

Call a professional

The most important element of calling a professional is understanding how they treat your property. Some treatments leave harmful chemicals in your lawn (that can affect your kids, pets, and even you) and others take a more natural approach. Just be sure you know what the professionals are using before you hire them.
